Tough Day!
Today had a really tough day! Kayden was doing good this morning so they decided to transfer him to the Cardiac Ward. In order to do so, they needed to take out the line in his neck and hand which are stitched in. The line in the neck was painful to take out and he was very scared to have anything done to him today, especially since this was done after they poked him for an unnecessary I.V.! His nurse this morning before transfer was not the greatest and this added major stress! Kayden is so scared of anybody hurting him that he wants to do everything on his own, including helping to take out his own lines, removing his own catheter (after the balloon was deflated) and now even moving. His nurse today said that she has never had a patient that wanted to take out their own lines! It was so hard to see him so scared and in so much discomfort. That is so much more than any little person should ever have to go through. They turned off his morphine, which means that his is only on Tylenol, however, he does have an order for morphine if needed. Due to a low hemoglobin he is unable to have Ibuprofen. Hoping that his level is back up tomorrow, so that the Ibuprofen can be started and hopefully help with pain. Kayden was able to take a couple of steps to the wheelchair in order to transfer and then another couple of steps when he arrived on the Cardiac Ward. Just those few steps was enough to really tucker him out! Kayden has a really nice private room on the his new unit, which is way quieter then in the PICU. Hopefully this will allow him to get a little more rest. A few hours after arriving on the unit, Kayden started to be in a lot of pain, but was still bound and determined to walk back from the bathroom with a little help. Later this evening they started him on morphine again because the pain was unbearable. Shortly after his pain was relieved and he is now having a good rest. Praying for a peaceful and pain free night for Kayden!
