So much to be thankful for!

Today started off very much like yesterday, with a lot of pain, still constipated, an awful headache and Kayden not being able to eat or drink.  We were starting to get pretty discouraged and were not sure how to get Kayden over this "hump".  After some more morphine, Kayden began to feel better again.  This time however, his headache never returned and he has stayed quite comfortable ever since.  He was finally able to go to the bathroom and that made Kayden feel even better.  They needed to start his I.V. again because he wasn't taking in enough fluids and even told him that they would consider putting in a feeding tube tomorrow if he didn't start eating.  Kayden did not like this idea at all and it seemed to be the push that he needed to start to eat and drink some more.  Also, the fact that Kayden feels so much better, allows him to finally feel like eating and drinking.  Neurology came up to see Kayden this afternoon and they think that Kayden suffers from migrains and that they headaches have been so bad in the hospital from everything that has been going on.  They will set up an MRI for him when he gets back just to rule out anything else and will also start him on vitamin B2 which they say should help with the fequency and severity of his headaches.  It felt great to get some answers on this issue as he has been dealing with headaches for a couple of years now.

Kayden was feeling so good that he agreed to go for a walk this evening and then we were even able to push him around the hospital in a wheelchair.  He was so happy to leave the unit and had a big smile on his face, which was so wonderful to see.  Even a lady in the elevator commented on his big smile!  Me and my mom brought him to the cafeteria where he picked an ice cream which he enjoyed on his little trip in the wheelchair.

It is so amazing how fast things have turned around and if everything continues to move along this way, he may even be discharged this weekend!  It sounds so scary to us, considering that he had open heart sugery on Monday, but they ensure us that they will not discharge him before he is ready.  We are very nervous (but very happy) about the news of the discharge and once he meets the discharge criteria, they say that there is nothing else they can to for him at the hospital and that he will feel so much better at home.  We feel so blessed and are so thankful with Kayden's progress.  The Lord has been faithful as always and we continue to see his work throughout this journey!

Resting after some much need morphine!
Feeling so much better and finally having a bite to eat!
Kayden's request was fries and gravy from the cafeteria.
Taking a break on our evening walk
