AMAZING!

Kayden had a really good day today, as good of a day as you can have right after heart surgery!  This morning, he began to get a little agitated and his breathing tube and chest tube were starting to bother him quite a bit. They decided to take out his breathing tube this morning and Kayden did really well with that.  They needed to make sure that he was awake enough before taking it out, which is not very pleasant to watch but they say that he shouldn't remember it.  Afterwards, his throat was really sore and all he could think about was having some water!  They needed make sure that he was swallowing well enough before he could have a little water, which would take a couple of hours.  He had a hard time waiting and even when they did finally allow him to drink, he just couldn't get enough!  Later on in the morning they took out his chest tube, which seemed to be causing him the most discomfort.  It was uncomfortable to take out but after they did, Kayden began to feel so much better.  When they took it out, Kayden said "Ahhhhh".  After his breathing tube, chest tube and a little bit of water, Kayden had a very peaceful afternoon and finally seemed to having a very restful sleep.  He was once again, AMAZING!  He has been absolutely great about everything!  


Kayden had some "liitle" visitors today that he was looking forward to all day.  His friends, Keegan and Mackenzie and of course Nolan were able to see him today and that really made his day.  If all goes well, Kayden will most likely leave the PICU and get transferred to the Cardiac Ward tomorrow.
